Phone Counseling

Crisis Services consist of a Helpline that is answered by Crisis Services Counselors. The Helpline provides the following services:

  • Crisis Counseling: This service consists of crisis assessment, strengths/needs assessment, safety assessment, and control and calming of the situation.
  • Information and Referral: This service consists of providing the caller with information about Kids in Crisis services and recommending which might be most appropriate to the caller's needs, providing information about support in the caller's community, and recommending types of services available in the community.

Important! Crisis Services will not provide any information that you shared during a conversation to anyone outside of Crisis Services Phone except when the following TWO things happen together:

  1. if you give the counsellor identifying information (like your name, address or phone number) AND
  2. if you tell the counsellor that someone has harmed you in the past, is harming you in some way now, or that they will probably harm you in the near future
